Context

For Creative Process Methodologies course, our team of 4 students explored the idea of creating spaces for students to relax amid academic stress and seasonal depression in Ann Arbor. explored the idea of creating inviting spaces for students. The project was divided into three phases, at which the end of the first two phases the instructional team gave us a new challenge or “obstruction” to change the direction of the project.

The Problem

Students at the University of Michigan Ann Arbor have to tackle quite a few issues in their daily lives, including academic pressure and the gloominess of Michigan Winters.

Proposed Solution

We can’t fix the academic pressure (we wish!), but we could do something about the gloominess of Michigan winters by creating a bright space that brings back greenery from the spring and summer.

The most cost effective method is to build a plant wall using small planters
